Britain's outgoing Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has given his last words as Prime Minister outside Downing Street.

In a statement to the media, he announced his resignation as leader of the Conservatives after the deep defeat of his party in the elections that were held yesterday.

In his statement, Sunak took responsibility for the defeat of the conservatives and apologized to the voters for the result.

"I gave everything to the government, but you sent the message that the government must change", continued Sunak, apologizing to the conservative candidates.

He once again wished success to his opponent, Sir Keir Starmer, whose Labor party won the election, saying he is a humble politician.

"Whatever disagreements we had in the pre-election period, he is a man I respect. Sir Starmer and his family deserve our every understanding as they make this major transition in their lives," added Sunak.

The outgoing British prime minister also referred to his family, thanking his wife and children "for the sacrifices they made for me to serve the country".

"I am honored to have served as your prime minister. This is the best country in the world and it is thanks to you, the British, the real source of our successes. Thank you very much", concluded Rishi Sunak.

Thus, foreign media reports that Mbeti Charles III has accepted the resignation of Rishi Sunak as Prime Minister, while it is expected that Sir Keir Starmer will be sworn in.
