"Flamingo Revolution" invades the boulevard with a special scenography

The 18th consecutive protest took on a new visual and symbolic dimension this Wednesday, as hundreds of citizens marched on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard amidst a sea of pink flamingos and a giant installation in the shape of a bird that has become a symbol of the movement.

The atmosphere in front of the Prime Minister's Office was dominated by the new decoration of the protesters, who filled the square with hundreds of silhouettes of flamingos raised on poles, while at the center of the march stood a large flamingo with open wings, accompanied by music, drums, and calls against the government.

The organizers considered this demonstration as a symbol of civic resistance and a reflection of what they described as a "political and moral victory" following the vote in the European Parliament of an amendment expressing concern about developments in the Vjosa-Narta protected area.

The sight of pink flamingos covering the boulevard created one of the most special moments of the protests so far, transforming the march into a combination of political manifestation and public artistic performance.

For the protesters, the flamingo no longer represents just a protected species of the Narta lagoon, but has become a symbol of opposition to construction in protected areas and the demand for respect for European environmental standards.
