The Directorate of Archives has announced the restoration process of a 100-year-old Koran, without providing details on the ownership of the Holy Book.

"The restoration of holy books deserves special care. In an 'operating room', as the Central Restoration Laboratory has been christened, the only one in the country, this centuries-old Koran has been subjected to a real treatment process, comparable to surgery.

Gloves, masks and metal equipment, are the basic utensils of the Laboratory, where the publication brought by the owner has gone through a series of stages, such as: disinfection, cleaning with dust tires, washing in bathtubs, deaeration in bathtubs, cleaning from supercoats, reintegration of missing parts with Japanese paper, restoring the cover, stitching the leaves and binding the leaves to the cover. This work process has been finalized with the delivery of the revived Koran to the owner", says the Directorate of Archives.
