Residents of the village of Rrjoll in Velipojë have clashed with police during a protest against the construction of a tourist resort in the area, which they claim is being built on their land.
Protesters have attempted to block the Shëngjin-Velipoja road as a form of protest, following the return of trucks and machinery for the construction of the resort.
Residents claim that their property is being stolen and emphasize that the start of the works is illegal, as the conflict over ownership is still in court.
Meanwhile, in March of last year, residents also filed a lawsuit with SPAK against this construction.
The project for the construction of a tourist village that includes villas and luxury hotels has been awarded to businessman Bashkim Ulaj and lies on the border between Rana e Hedhun and the Baks–Rrjoll area.
This has caused tension and constant clashes between residents and police forces during the protests.
Representatives of about 60 families protested again on Monday. They say their land was stolen with forged documents. Police escorted several people during the protest.
