The World Health Organization has raised the alarm about the decline in vaccination of children against measles, where Albania is one of these countries. This means that many babies under one year old and not only are at risk.

According to pediatrician Sonila Batri, it shows that the main reason for the decrease in the number of vaccinations has to do with parents who suspect that their children may become autistic, which, according to her, has not been scientifically proven.

"There is a decrease in vaccination at the age of 1 because the parents postponed it, but it is important that it is carried out at the age of 1 because the immunity that is inherited from the mother also falls. The refusal lies in autism and they actually connect the vaccine at the age of 1 with one thing which has not been scientifically proven and which has not been proven and which has to do with autism. So they think that if they vaccinate their child they may be more likely to get autism." said the pediatrician in a statement to the media.

Parents associate the measles vaccine with autism, so they don't vaccinate them without thinking that they are putting their peers who attend nurseries and kindergartens at risk.

Doctors appeal for the vaccination against measles, since only in 2019, 4 children lost their lives due to neglect of this vaccine. Statistics show a decrease in measles vaccination coverage, where in 2021 it dropped to 89% from 95% before the pandemic.

Meanwhile, 1 in 10 children in our country are infected with chicken pox. Pediatrician Batri raises the alarm that infected children should not attend kindergartens and nurseries, in order not to spread the contagious disease further.

"Chickenpox is a pathology that affects the age groups of nurseries and kindergartens. It starts with temperature, it starts with the appearance of elements in children from the head and then almost all over the body. Care should be taken not to send children to nurseries and in kindergartens, which in fact should then be done to avoid contamination of other children and contact with the doctor." she said.
