Besim Sherifi

Besim Sherifi is suspected of hiding in Tirana for 10 years. He was using the identity of a Kosovar, documents that were seized from him after his arrest and are suspected to be forged.

Initially, two months ago, the Operational Forces had received information through operational channels that a person wanted for murder was hiding in an apartment in the Dry Lake area.

After identifying him, the Albanian side requested information from the authorities in North Macedonia and concluded that 52-year-old Besim Sherifi had been declared an international wanted person.

After the Operational Unit intervened in the apartment he was renting, the 52-year-old told them I'm not the person you're looking for. "I haven't committed any murders, I'm a Kosovar Albanian."

 But according to sources, fingerprints revealed that the person in question was Besim Sherifi. The murder for which he is accused took place in 2007 in the village of Kopanica, in Skopje, where 3 people were killed.

The court had ordered him to be arrested in absentia, which according to criminal legislation in North Macedonia provides for a life sentence.
