The court has imposed the security measure of "prison arrest" for Klered Bozhanaj, who injured police officer Edlir Alleshi on Wednesday evening. After the incident, he left the crime scene and was handcuffed 24 hours after he returned there.

After he was arrested, he told the police officers: "I am the commander of the Pentagon!"

The investigators questioned him twice because of the inconsistent statements he made before them. Based on these statements and his unusual behavior, the Prosecutor's Office of Tirana is expected to request an expertise on his mental health.

The instability of the 41-year-old has been confirmed by his father, Vitri Bozhanaj. He claimed that his son had shown problems as soon as he returned from Italy 1 year ago, after a conflict with his employer there.

Officer Edlir Alleshi, together with 3 of his colleagues, were patrolling when they saw that Bozhanaj had separated from his wife and son and started making some suspicious movements. When the police signaled him to stop, he ran away and at the entrance of the building he shot officer Edlir Alleshi with this pistol that he had with him without a permit and was able to leave.

The Prosecutor's Office of Tirana has brought against him the charge of "Attempted murder of a police officer" which, according to Article 79 B of the Criminal Code, is punishable by no less than 30 years in prison or life imprisonment. He is also accused of "carrying weapons without a permit".
