The Democratic Party of Kukës has announced that it will not be part of the election race for the City Hall.

Through a reaction to the media, the PD branch in Kukës says that there will not be a "second beam" of defeat for the democrats and Kuksians.

DP of Kukës accuses Sali Berisha's group of ignoring their requests to make it possible to compete with one candidate. Earlier it was reported that the candidate of the DP led by Lulzim Basha, Arif Rexhmati, had accepted to compete in the Primaries of Berisha, but on the condition that the winner enter the elections with the logo of the DP, which was rejected.

Democratic Party Kukës Branch, following with high political and moral responsibility the situation created in Kukës; after the rejection by a part of the opposition for a unifying candidate, resident in Kukes and with all the will to produce a winning candidate in the elections of September 24, wants to remind all its members and sympathizers that our position has been constant and only in the interest of the honest democrats of Kukes.

We believe that the race for the leadership of Kuka Municipality is a dignified and missing representation for the free citizens of this country. This race should absolutely not be a race for bargains and oligarchs' heads between Rama's revivalists and Meta's PL beneficiaries.

However, in the circumstances when the PD, its local and central institutions, insisted for more than two months on a comprehensive union of the opposition factors in Kukës, with the sole purpose of returning the local government to the right, at the service of the citizens, every request of ours seemed to fall on deaf ears.

Not everyone had the same will with the Democratic Party. Ignoring the will of the large family of Kukës democrats, the command from Tirana, to the detriment of the interests of Kukës citizens, to protect the interests of individuals and merchants with the oligarchs of Rama, are risking a repeat of May 14.

Ndaj në kushtet e krijuara pas “nxitimit’ me “primare” të paracaktuara dhe caktimit të kandidatit, Partia Demokratike është e përkushtuar pa asnjë rezervë dhe paragjykim , që të mos krijojë kushtet për një ndarje akoma më të thellë të demokratëve në dëm të qytetarëve të Kukësit.

Në këto rrethana Partia Demokratike, me përgjegjësi të plotë deklaron se nuk do të dalë me një kandidat për zgjedhjet e datës 24 shtator për Bashkinë e Kukësit.
