The government will restore the basic population control service and the provision of dialysis to the state, thus ending two other concessions in the health sector.
The Minister of Health, Evis Sala , said that the contracts of the two concessions end in September and November of this year, respectively, and will not be renewed.
"The check-up and dialysis services will be taken over and provided by the state," the minister said.
The two concession contracts had a total bill of around 17.2 billion lek, or 182 million euros at the current exchange rate, for their 10-year lifespan.
Respectively, the Check Up concession company was paid 8.76 billion lek from the state budget, while the dialysis company was paid about 8.5 billion lek for their ten-year duration.
Previously, the government decided to bring back to the state another concessionary service in the health system, that of sterilization.
This concession cost Albanians over 150 million euros alone and, according to SPAK's investigations, was a corrupt procedure.
