Prime Minister Edi Rama says that 14 new firefighting vehicles have begun to be produced in Albania by the TIMAK company.

He said that the goal is to create a unified fleet that will meet the country's needs according to NATO and European Union standards.

"Fourteen new fire engines are being produced today, as we speak, by TIMAK. We have not been able to produce fourteen fire engines in 14 years, at the same time. That's when we left Albania without fire engines. Meanwhile, today we have a fleet of fire engines that is not small, but completely insufficient, and, instead of going up and down here too and holding a tender today, two tenders tomorrow and getting some red, some cherry, some orange according to the next tender, we will build a fleet of fire engines that will be the same as the army fleet, which has just started to take its final form. We will have all the fire engines that the Republic of Albania needs according to the standards of a NATO country and a European Union country, per capita, per territory, per kilometer," said Rama.
