Rama's warning/SHISH will help SPAK, 'spies' will follow corrupt
Vlora Hyseni, the head of SHISH

Chief Socialist Edi Rama in the National Assembly had this request to SHISH when he said: "I expect that the Intelligence Service will deeply join this fight, transforming itself with the strength of the right given to it by its duties, the truth and the professionalism that the mission demands from a national dispatch of written rumors where you have to read 1000 pages to find a sheet of meaningful information about wrongdoers inside the offices of the state or about the institutions of the state".

This declaration of the head of the socialist Edi Rama may have come as a bolt from the open sky for the National Socialist Assembly, but not at all for the people of the State Information Service.

Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu reports that in the first meeting of Vlora Hysen, with the directors of the departments in the Central Apparatus and those of the districts, when he took the task of the number one of the Albanian intelligence, he asked for qualitative information and not just to end the working day.

One of the orders of director Hyseni was specifically for the anti-corruption directorate at SHISH, for more information gathering, with a focus on corrupt officials at all levels.

Edi Rama's declaration is seen within SHISH as an indispensable need that this institution has for comprehensive transformation and modernization in the service of not only National Security.

On the condition of anonymity, a Top Channel source in SHISH says that a series of changes of a transformative nature in this institution have started almost since April of this year, when the prime minister entrusted the important post to Mrs. Hyseni.

One of the primary objectives and challenge for director Hyseni and all those who serve in SHISH, is the transformation into an effective and useful intelligent service in the implementation of state policies.

At the forefront of this process, says the same source, is the essential role that this institution should play in supporting SPAK and other law-enforcement bodies within the framework of the fight against organized crime and bringing corrupt officials to justice.

However, this expected role, the same source emphasizes, should never be misunderstood with the international principles on the role of intelligence, which consider the notion that "Intelligence", by itself, has the power to win a "war", or the assessment that even in conflicts between nations, the use of intelligence is always only one of the factors that determine victory or defeat.

On the contrary, the expectations for the main security body in the country are fundamentally related to the intelligence-led approach to fight organized crime and corruption, alongside other aspects related to regional security and beyond, where SHISH has been and continues to be a contributor. ./ TCH
