"I was at home and suddenly I heard shots. Over 100–150 shots. At first I thought it was a wedding, so I went out to see," a resident of the area told " Kathimerini " about the massacre that happened this Monday afternoon in Loutsa, east of Athens in Greece.
The witness who first alerted the authorities says:
"I went out. I went to see exactly what was going on and what I saw was truly horrifying. 5 people were dead inside a car while another one was lying outside. I immediately called the police and they came. This is what I saw and this is what I heard. The incident happened somewhere around 6 in the afternoon or a quarter past 6 ," the witness told the Greek newspaper Kathimerini.
Police found 25 shell casings at the scene. Greek media write that 6 Albanians were executed in a rural area near a road intersection. The identities of the victims are not yet known and the circumstances are still unclear.
The Greek media write that it is suspected that the person who was found dead outside the "Ford" car with German license plates is also its driver. Apparently, he had arguments with the perpetrators who are thought to have moved with a motorbike and a black vehicle, "Audi" type. At the moment, investigators are verifying two leads, whether it was an ambush or a meeting that went wrong between the two groups.
The victims were shot with a 9mm pistol. Investigators believe that the victims also responded with fire to the bullets, but were unable to escape. Greek media reports that the massacre is believed to be a showdown between criminal groups. This is one of the events with the largest number of victims in an event of this type in Greece.
