The European Court of Human Rights has issued a decision on the lawsuit of Gërdec's family members.

While this case is in the Special Court at the request of SPAK, Strasbourg says that there have been violations over the years.

According to the decision of Strasbourg, the families of the victims should have been part of the process from the beginning, while the investigation for the former minister Fatmir Mediu has dragged on.

This decision of Strasbourg is expected to become part of the process at GJKKO.

The case against the former Minister of Defense Fatmir Mediu has been reopened after Zamira Durdaj, who lost her son in the Gërdec incident, reported it to SPAK.

Mediu was one of those accused of abuse of office for the 2008 event where Albania was shocked by the explosion of a military weapons depot in Gërdec, near Tirana, where 26 people were killed.
