Student with mental health problems / No assistant teachers assigned
A third grade student at 28 Nëntori School in Tirana suffers from mental health problems.
Arjan Karriqi, the girl's father, tells 'Stop' that despite submitting the documents to the Education Directorate, the daughter has no assistant teachers.
Arjan Karriqi: My daughter is in the third grade at 28 Nëntori school. It was diagnosed with developmental delay and we followed it to the institutions and when I brought it to the first grade, I did the paperwork for the assistant teacher.
The Stop journalist met the director of the school "28 Nëntori" in the area of Lapraka in Tirana. He said that this case has been known since the girl was in the first grade.
But according to him, the girl's parent, only in March 2022, has led a forensic report on the diagnosis and the need that this child has for supportive teachers.
School principal: We have the student's progress since the first grade. But we have reached the parent's insistence on having assistant teachers only now, on March 17, when psychology, through the requests it received in October and later, convinced this parent to go and bring him before the Forensic Psychiatry Commission of Psychiatry. and a report was subsequently confirmed by this commission. The parent only cooperated in March of this year while previously there were only counseling sessions. This child has been having difficulty learning from first grade onwards.
After a confrontation between the parents and the principal, it turns out that it was the forensic commission that did not issue the document, claiming that a document was required for KEMP and not for support teachers.
