Protest of residents in Rrjoll against Bashkim Ulaj's resort

Residents of the village of Rrjoll in Velipojë, Shkodra, have again protested today, against the construction of the "Blu Borgo" resort by the developer Bashkim Ulaj.

They have vowed to protect the land at all costs and not allow the property to be stolen by the oligarch Ulaj, a situation that has led to strong clashes with the police.

Even during this Sunday, there was no shortage of tensions between residents and police at the construction site.

While declaring that they will do everything to protect their property, the residents of the village of Rrjoll have called on the Minister of Interior, Albana Koçiu, not to send the police in support of Bashkim Ulaj.

"Look who Albana Koçiu has brought to defend Bashkim Ulaj against the poor villagers. The minister has brought all the police here to defend Bashkim Ulaj from us, who are stealing our lands. Bashkim Ulaj and Isuf Çela told us in their office 'we do not want to come as invaders, but as developers'. What are you doing today Bashkim Ulaj, besides coming to invade us? Are you doing something else? My great-grandfather did not do what you are doing today to our land. Serbia and Turkey did not do this to us, to steal our land. You are doing it because you have the state behind you. But we are not weak either, because we are with God's right and right always triumphs. Yesterday they made escorts. We still have the bullock cart with us. One of the bulls that tried to take it by force fainted. All the police rushed in. These policemen knocked me down who "I am a woman. These people have come now to protect Bashkim Ulaj and rape us on our land," said, among other things, one of the residents of the village of Rrjoll.

Meanwhile, another resident of the village of Rrjoll, while attending the protest with his children in his arms, demanded justice from the state for the property they claim is being robbed.

"The police bring criminals, we are on our land. What is happening like this, what is happening on our land. Look at how many police there are. We don't even have weapons or anything. We are on our land and we can't even trespass on it. Inshallah we will find justice," said the resident, who had her children in her arms during the interview.

Another resident of the area, while describing the situation as alarming, accused the suspended minister, Belinda Balluku, of ordering the robbery of their properties.

"Tomorrow they will bring armored vehicles and tanks here, because the Serbia-Kosovo war has broken out here. I call on Belinda Balluku, known as the hyena or black panther, to withdraw from our land ," said another resident of the area.
