VoxNews has obtained photos of the arrest of Hamza (Erzen) Uka and Julian Cumraku, who surrendered to RENEA forces yesterday after 12 hours of negotiations while hiding in an apartment in the village of Orosh in Fushë-Arrëz.

The two are thought to have been hiding in this apartment for 2 months. 

It is learned that 4 automatic rifles, a pistol, 18 grenades, 7 magazines with cartridges and 2,000 cartridges were found in the apartment.

The police have also issued an official statement, shedding light on the dynamics of the event.

Police say that at around 09:00, during a field search, police observed a person who, upon seeing the officers, quickly left, entering an abandoned apartment.

The police called him to leave the apartment, but he refused and threatened them.

Then, with the intervention of RENEA forces, after 12 hours of negotiations and with calls from their families, they surrendered.

When he surrendered, police say, Erzen Uka, also known as Hamza, had an injury to his right thigh, and was taken to Shkodra Hospital, where his life is out of danger.

In the apartment, 4 automatic firearms and 1 pistol were found, an ISIS flag, placed on the wall between the aforementioned weapons, 17 defensive hand grenades, combat ammunition, electric detonator caps for exploding explosives, a fuse used to detonate explosives, and two cartridges.

Cumraku and Uka had long been under the surveillance of the Anti-Terrorist Service, while Erzen Uka, a former member of Albania's peacekeeping forces in Iraq, had been sentenced to three years in prison on charges of religious hatred.

In 2015, Uka was arrested on suspicion of preparing children and young people to join ISIS, an accusation that at the time led to strong clashes between Uka and Judge Bibë Ndreca.

Police announcement: 

Pukë/The police operation codenamed "OROSHI" is being finalized, carried out by the Pukë Police Commissariat, the structures of the Shkodra DVP, the Anti-Terror Directorate with the support of the Renea Special Forces.

On 24.11.2025, at around 09:00, the services of the Puka Police Commissariat, during a search of the territory in the village of Orosh, Fushë-Arrëz, found a person who, as soon as he saw the Police services, quickly left by entering an abandoned apartment, property of citizen PC.

The Police Services called him to leave the apartment, but the person did not obey the Police call and threatened the Police officers.

Faced with this situation, based on previously obtained information about the dangerous nature of this person, the Police services surrounded the apartment and requested the intervention of specialized police forces, in order to ensure the safety of the lives of the Police officers.

Renea Special Forces went to the scene, which took control of the outer perimeter of the apartment, which was held by forces from the Puka Police Commissariat and the "Eagle" forces of the Shkodra Police Department.

At the moment when the Renea Special Forces called on the person to leave the apartment, shots were fired from inside the apartment at the Renea Special Forces.

After 12 hours of siege, where Renea Special Forces were constantly called upon to surrender, the inability to leave the siege, and after negotiations with their relatives who played an important role in finalizing the operation without using force and without causing damage, the two people inside the apartment surrendered.

At the time of his surrender, the EU citizen had a penetrating injury to his right thigh, who was immediately transported by ambulance to the Shkodra Regional Hospital and is out of danger.

JC, 34 years old, born in Puka, convicted of the criminal offenses "Theft" and "Threat".

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor's Office at the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction in Shkodra, for further action, for the criminal offenses of "Incitement, public call and propaganda for the commission of acts with terrorist purposes", "Production of weapons of war", "Opposition of a public order police officer", "Unauthorized possession and production of explosive weapons and ammunition".
