Top Channel journalist Marin Mema spoke on "Top Story" regarding the non-marital status imposed on him by Greece in 2012.
He says he cannot take this case all the way to Strasbourg, as the Greek courts do not allow him to go through the relevant stages.
He also talks about many other people who are non-grata from Greece for reasons he describes as absurd.
" In 2026 I will be entering my 14th year. I have tried to take it to court. I have contacted a lawyer, but they do not let you go through the relevant steps in Greece to take it to Strasbourg, because they know that in Strasbourg they lose it. You do not enter the procedure at all to go through these steps. You have to go through the steps in the relevant country to take it to Strasbourg.
I have the same cross. In other countries they laughed when I told them it was related to a stance on Greece. What we haven't mentioned properly is that this story has never stopped. When I was declared persona non grata in 2012, two others who were with me at the time were declared persona non grata.
A few months ago, an activist was declared non grata for saying 'Long live Chameria' when Mitsotakis arrived. This has not stopped. It continues.
A boy had taken a photo in Chameria with his child and wife. They took him to the police station and told him: 'Marin Mema took you.' That boy didn't live in Albania. He lived in Sweden. It's happened to many people.
This non-grata has not cost me anything, because it does not block the truth. You can block Marin, but it does not block the truth from coming out. This has given more voice to the voice of truth. I am surprised why there is no real reaction.
"There has never been a serious stance taken to address this issue. I'm entering my 14th year. Is it like I'm this big terrorist who had a pen instead of a Kalashnikov ," said Mema.
