A new transfer of migrants to Albania has begun from the port of Brindisi. The Italian Navy ship Spica departed on Tuesday at 9:30, with 50 people of various nationalities on board, bound for Gjadrin, where the detention and repatriation center in Albania, established and administered by the Italian government, is located.
The ship was escorted by the port authority and Guardia di Finanza vehicles. The operations were supervised by the Brindisi Police Headquarters.
This is the second departure from Brindisi, after the one on April 11, when 40 immigrants departed for Albania on the ship Libra.
Transfers to the Gjader center have resumed at full speed, following the clash between the government and the judiciary.
