The protest against the government enters its 61st day today, as this afternoon citizens gathered in Skanderbeg Square and then stationed themselves in front of the Prime Minister's Office building to continue the daily mobilization.
Edison Lika, one of the activists in the protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office, commented on Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements and the continuation of the civic mobilization.
Lika said that, in his opinion, Rama's insistence on not resigning shows fear of the pressure of the protest. "The more he appears in the media and says he will not resign, the more fear he has become," he declared.
Speaking about the Socialist Party and its leadership, Lika made strong accusations against the majority, claiming that the protest has created a clash within it.
"He has gathered his party, which is a criminal gang. Rama was the only one who could manage this structure, because he has that ability," said Lika. According to him, warnings that the protest would bring conflict to society do not hold true.
"For a long time, they told us that this protest would send Albania into conflict. No, this protest has brought the Socialist Party into conflict," he said.
Over the past 60 days, the protests have been accompanied by rallies, marches on the main streets of the capital, and continuous calls for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama, the holding of free elections, and a change in the way of governance.
