Snow begins in the Kukës region, temperatures drop to -16°C,

The first snowfalls have begun in the Kukës region.

Snow has begun to fall in mountainous areas above 700 meters above sea level, bringing further drops in temperatures.

Snowfall has also been recorded near the Kalimash tunnel, along the National Road, an important axis for road traffic. However, so far, the snow has not created layers that impede the movement of vehicles.

Authorities are calling for caution, as over the last two days Kukës has been hit by very low temperatures.

In remote mountainous areas, the thermometer has dropped from minus 3 to minus 16 degrees Celsius. The situation is being monitored by the relevant structures, while drivers are advised to show increased attention, especially during the night and early morning hours.
