The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, appeared today at the SPAK premises, in implementation of the "compulsory appearance" security measure, ordered by the Court.
As on other occasions, Berisha was welcomed outside the SPAK premises by his supporters and several Democratic MPs, with whom he greeted them.
The chief democrat is accused of having taken concrete actions during his time as prime minister to approve laws and bylaws that benefited his son-in-law, Jamarbër Malltezi, in the construction of palaces on the site of the former Partizani sports complex.
Malltezi himself faces corruption and money laundering charges. According to SPAK, he illegally benefited from around 5.4 million euros through a construction project, benefits related to decisions taken by the government led at the time by his father-in-law.
