Prof. passed away. Dr. Mevlan Kabo, the founder of Albanian Geography

Prof. Mevlan Kabo is one of the worthy representatives of the constellation of geographers, who laid the foundations of Albanian geographical science and education, for which his former students, colleagues and entire generations of teachers and geographers are grateful.

His great contribution was extended in many fields: pedagogical, scientific, management and publishing: successful head of the sector in the Institute of Studies of School and encyclopedic publications; head of university institutions (lecturer of geography and head of the Department of Geography, vice dean of the Faculty of History and Philology at the University of Tirana); head of scientific institutions (head of the Geographical Studies Center of the Albanian Academy of Sciences; head editor and author of the national monumental work Physical Geography of Albania, published by the Academy of Sciences (1991); head and scientific editor of geography at the Dictionary Editorial Office Encyclopedic Albanian (1985 and 2008). Prof. Kabo's pedagogical and scientific contribution was also in Kosovo, where he established the foundations of scientific cooperation with the University of Pristina. innovative thinking and broad scientific geographical culture.

Professor Kabua is the author and co-author of major national works, monographs, studies, study articles, references in national and international scientific conferences, maps, textbooks for pre-university and university education, etc. With a solid geographical background and extensive and very rich geographical information, he was an encyclopedia for the geography of Albania.

With the change in the life of prof. Kabo's family lost a loved one, Albanian education and geographical science lost a talented teacher, researcher and founder of Albanian geographical studies.
