The "father" of modern Criminal Procedure in Albania passes away!

Halim Islami , professor, author of several university and scientific texts, mentor of dozens of generations of jurists, is no longer alive since July 15, 2024, leaving behind an intellectual wealth and a human pain.

"In addition to the above, he was a husband, father and a dear friend to many lawyers", writes the Director of the School of Magistrates Arben Rakipi in the tribute written on this occasion.

Professor Islam has known that in each of the roles that his life and career have placed him in, he stands out and demonstrates the best human and intellectual abilities.

Professor Islami is one of the founders of the School of Magistrates, one of its first lecturers who gave life to the formation of entire generations of magistrates, one of the first directly engaged in the third reform of the Albanian Judicial system so necessary at the beginning of the years 90'.

According to God Rakipi, Professor Islami, contributed not simply because he was at work, but full of passion, unwavering commitment and civic responsibility, turning his activity into a national and patriotic mission.

Professional achievements of Prof. Islam were large and impressive. He was a pioneer of reformation, a visionary in what he undertook to accomplish, a strong leader to the determined goal. Through this personality, he managed to overcome the challenges and realize the essential objectives that time laid before him.

But Halim Islami was more than a professional. He was and was perfected as a mentor with deep tact and efficiency, with genuine kindness, with deep wisdom. His door was always open to listen, to understand, to help dozens and dozens of students and colleagues who, today, surely remember with gratitude what Prof. Islami gave in their formation. All generations and colleagues recognize his ability to listen, to evaluate, to value them as equal and important.

Further, the Director of the School of Magistrates, Mr. Rakipi writes: "He was the husband and father to be followed. All those who knew him closely understood the strong spiritual connection that this man had devotedly taken care to plant and grow healthy, the connection with his family. It constituted the source of calm that ensured his behavior, the emotional harmony of his family gave him further commitment, more security, more intellectual production in the great public service he performed".

Despite the physical departure, the legacy that Prof. Islam has left behind, it will continue to influence the field of jurisprudence.

"Rest in peace, dear Halim. You will always be remembered, always missed and forever treasured. Your spirit, your wisdom and your love will shine forever", concluded the Director of the School of Magistracy, Mr. Arben Rakipi.
