After the GJKKO Appeal upheld the security measures against Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi assigned by the First Level on October 23, 2024, lawyer Genc Gjokutaj gave a statement to the media.

During his speech, the former President's lawyer said that this was an expected decision, which he described as political.

"We expected it because the reason for which Meta and the other opposition leader are being kept in isolation has not been revealed. The appeal is like GJKKO, if not worse. There is no wonder. We did 6 hours of trial with all the parameters of a process. Our defense was procedural", said Gjokutaj.

Lawyer Genci Gjokutaj says that they have not lost hope in the country's justice system, adding that they will send the case to the Supreme Court.

"We haven't lost hope, these judges will start listening, it can't go on like this, the entire opposition in prison. We will definitely appeal to the Supreme Court. This is the path we must follow, if necessary we will go to the International Court ", said Gjokutaj.

With today's decision of the Appeal, Ilir Meta will continue to remain under arrest in prison, while Monika Kryemadhi is also required to appear.
