The British media write that the illegal crossings of Albanians in the English Channel have decreased significantly in recent months.

The news was announced by a source of the British government. The decline comes after months of proposals by UK government ministers to crack down on Albanian immigrants, as well as the agreement signed between London and Tirana.

"We have seen a marked decline in the number of Albanians crossing the Channel in small boats in recent months," the source told The Times.

According to The Times, Albanians accounted for an average of around a third of all people crossing into the UK via small boats from France in 2022, with at least 13,000 making the journey, up from just 800 in 2021.
