While in June 2024 the Minister of the Interior, Taulant Balla, declared that they were cooperating closely with the Greek authorities, hoping for a quick repatriation procedure at the border of the murderer Gerald Shehu, almost 3 months after this declaration, the situation of Shehu's repatriation and extradition from Greece remained in Albania due to procedural reasons.
Gerald Shehu, the owner of Hotel "Grecia" and the main suspect for the murder and then the disappearance of the body of the hotel receptionist, Eraldo Nevruzi, has asked not to be extradited to Albania, as his life is in serious danger in this country.
Shehu claimed that he committed the murder in self-defense, since Eraldo Nevruzi himself had offended and hit him first.
In addition, the Shehu has played the card of his British citizenship and his wife's Greek citizenship to the Greek authorities, arguing that he wants to stay in Greece or England and not be extradited to Albania.
On the other hand, two weeks ago, the prosecutor's office of Vlora officially forwarded to Greece the entire criminal file that deals with the murder of Eraldo Nevruzi, where, among other things, it requested the extradition of Shehu to Albania, guaranteeing the Greek side that it will consider the rights of Gerald Shehu in this serious event.
The Prosecutor's Office of Vlora hopes for an extradition of Gerald Shehu to Albania, so that he can face the serious charge of murder and then hiding the lifeless body of the receptionist, Eraldo Nevruzi.
Currently, two other employees of the hotel owned by Gerald Shehu, citizens Daniel Qose and David Larti, have been arrested for this incident, who have been placed under the security measure of "arrest in prison"./Ora News
