The municipal council of Himara meets, the residents clash with the police,

The meeting of the municipal council in Himare, for the election of the new mayor, has started with tension.

The residents, calling in Greek, have opposed the presence of the prefect of Vlora, Vangjel Tavon, as well as the leader of the SP, Blendi Klosin.

After the resignation of Jorgo Goro from the post of acting mayor of Himara, the place has remained vacant and without a leader.

Besides Jorgo Goro, Fredi Beleri, the elected mayor of Himara, is also in prison, sentenced to 2 years in prison after he was caught buying votes before the May 14 local elections.

The two vice-presidents are Blerina Bala and Pervin Gjikuria who will be elected by the Himara Municipality council.
