Today is the second day of tributes at the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ for Archbishop Anastasios, who passed away on Saturday morning.
Participants will be all the country's metropolitans, representatives from foreign embassies in our country, a delegation from the Vatican, representatives of other religious communities, the Patriarchs of Israel, Alexandria and Cyprus, as well as high-level representatives from Christian Churches around the world.
The Archdeacon with the body of Archbishop Anastasios arrived on Albanian soil yesterday at around 15:50 through the Kakavija border crossing. After a ceremony of honor was held there, the coffin was taken to Gjirokastra where homage was paid at the Orthodox Church with the participation of dozens of believers.
Meanwhile, the funeral ceremony and the funeral procession to the final resting place will take place on Thursday, January 30, at 11:00 AM.
The Archbishop will be laid to rest in the premises of the Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ, the remains left by him.
The funeral ceremony is expected to be attended by the highest clergy figures in the world, and not just those of the Orthodox Church.
A representative delegation is also expected from the Vatican, while Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis and 5 ministers from his cabinet are also expected to be present.
