Four of the 49 migrants who arrived in Shëngjin today return to Italy

Four of the 49 migrants who arrived in Shëngjin today will be sent to Italy this evening. ANSA reports that they are three minor migrants and one vulnerable adult who will be returned to the Italian state.

They arrived this morning in Albania along with 45 other migrants on the Italian military ship "Cassiopeia".

Immigrants arriving in Shëngjin with nationalities from Egypt, Bangladesh, Ivory Coast and Gambia underwent their first asylum procedures today.

The third group of illegal immigrants that arrived in Albania this Tuesday came after a 2-month suspension due to court decisions in Italy that ordered in the first two cases the sending of the immigrants to the neighboring country.

This is because the Rome Court did not confirm their detention as legal. The illegal immigrants arrived in Albania under the Rama-Meloni agreement signed in November 2023.
