The Italian Navy ship "Cassiopeia" with 49 migrants on board has arrived in the waters of Shëngjin. It is expected to dock at the port at around 8 am.
Initially, immigrants will undergo verification and health check procedures at the reception center.
After these procedures, they will be transferred to Gjadri.
The port authorities in Shëngjin were notified that the vessel would arrive on Monday, January 27, but due to the influx of migrants who were rescued at sea, procedures led to delays.
This is the third operation to shelter immigrants in Gjadra, after the first two failed.
It was the ship "Libra" in the two previous cases, in October and November of last year, when 20 asylum seekers sent to the centers of Shëngjin and then Gjadri were released as a result of decisions by judges of the Rome Court who rejected detentions.
This time the government hopes for a better outcome. Now those who will decide will no longer be the magistrates of the immigration section, but those of the Court of Appeal, as provided for in the new law requested by the executive and which entered into force on January 11.
