After the return of mandarins exported from European Union countries, their sales in the domestic market have decreased.

Citrus producers in Lushnje claim that their price has been halved from 60 lek per kg to 30 lek and sales are low.

This citrus producer in Karbunara says that he has also stopped harvesting them and fears they will spoil if frosts begin.

Farmers try to guarantee that the quality of the mandarins they are selling is good and that they do not use banned pesticides, but only organic fertilizer.

A few days ago, the European Food Safety Authority reported three cases of pesticide contamination of mandarins coming from Albania. This quantity was blocked and destroyed at a collection point in Divjaka by the AKU, Top Channel reports.

Controls have also begun on the plantations of farmers who exported and detailed analyses will be conducted on the preparations they used.
