After the arrest of Lefter Alla by SPAK and after his dismissal by Prime Minister Rama, the Municipal Council of Bulqiza has elected a provisional chairman to perform the functions.

The councilors have elected their chairman, Gëzim Xhafa, to replace Lefter Alla. After resigning from the leadership of the council, Gëzim Xhafa was the only candidate who entered the race, receiving 11 votes from 16 members present, 4 against and 1 invalid.

After today's decision of the municipal council, Xhafa will start his duties after the confirmation of the decision by the Prefect of Dibër District.

We remind you that for two weeks, paraplegics and tetraplegics in Bulqiza have not received their disability pension. The reason is the absence of the signature of the mayor of Bulqiza, Lefter Alla, handcuffed for tender abuse.

Lefter Alla was dismissed from office by Prime Minister Edi Rama, for serious violations, after being arrested by SPAK for abusing public tenders, favoring the companies of his relatives.  

Together with 12 other people, 7 of them municipal officials, were arrested for abusing a tender worth about 3 million euros. The deputy mayor of the Municipality, Enkeleda Lleshi, has also been taken into custody.

Their arrest was made after they are accused of favoring the relative of Lefter Alla, Aqif Konesha, who carried out the works of the new water supply. On March 18, GJKKO set the security measure of 'prison arrest' for the mayor of Bulqiza, and the other arrested officials. During his testimony, Alla considered the accusations as political attacks against him.
