BREAKING NEWS/ The railway line in Librazhd is also destroyed!
Librazhdi

A dramatic situation with serious consequences for the national infrastructure has been created in the area called " Arrat e Gurrës " in Dragostunje, Librazhd, where within a few days three key nodes have been simultaneously hit: the national road, the power transmission network and the railway line .

After the damage to the road segment on the axis connecting Librazhd with Prrenjas, as well as on the Qukës-Qafë Plloçë axis and the damage to the foundation of a High Voltage pole , the situation has escalated further with the complete destruction of a segment of the Elbasan-Librazhd-Përrenjas-Gur i Kuq railway line .

According to data, the massive subsidence and displacement of land has severely affected the railway foundation in the Librazhd-Xhyrë segment, completely putting this part of the track, which is parallel to the highway and the course of the Shkumbin River, out of operation.

The supporting structures have been irreversibly damaged, while the tracks are deformed and displaced, making any attempt at rail traffic in this area impossible.

In parallel, the 110 kV high-voltage pole no. 15, a key element of the energy supply for the area, has also been damaged. The displacement and sinking of its foundation poses a serious risk to the stability of the network, while specialists are closely monitoring the situation to avoid further consequences.

The "geography of destruction" in this territory has taken on alarming proportions in recent days.

Massive landslides have involved a segment of the national road, a high-voltage pole and now also the railway line, creating a chain of damage that directly affects road traffic, rail transport and energy supply.

This unprecedented situation for the area has temporarily isolated the infrastructural connections between several strategic points not only in the Elbasan region, but for a large part of all of Albania, while the authorities face a triple challenge: stabilizing the terrain, restoring road safety, and rebuilding the destroyed segments.

Experts in the field warn that the intervention will require time, significant investments, and in-depth geological studies, as ground movements in this area are active and pose a constant risk.

Meanwhile, local residents and businesses are facing direct economic and social consequences, while "Arrat e Gurrës" has become a critical point that tests the sustainability of infrastructure in one of the country's most important connecting corridors.
