A serious gun incident was recorded on Saturday morning in the Mikrolimano area of Piraeus, where an Albanian known by the nickname "Titi" was involved in an exchange of fire with the Greek police.
According to Greek media, Alessio Xhelo had a serious criminal past and was targeted by authorities for murder, robbery and participation in criminal organizations.
The incident occurred outside a shop in Mikrolimano, when the Extortion Police officers attempted to search him. As soon as he noticed the officers, he pulled out his gun and attempted to shoot at them, while one of the officers reacted first using his service weapon.
After the exchange of gunfire, the suspect was injured and transported to the hospital under strict security measures.
During the search, police found two pistols, a .32 caliber revolver with a magazine, and a bag containing six hand grenades.
According to reports, "Titi" had previously been accused of being a key member of a criminal organization and was one of the individuals who escaped from the Petrou Ralli prisoner transfer center in June 2019, taking police officers hostage.
Latest photos of Alessio Xhelo published on his social network Tik - Tok.
It is suspected that despite the serious charges, the Albanian justice system had released him after he published a video on TikTok on October 24, 2025, leaving an Albanian police station and hugging family members, and then appearing in various locations in the city of Saranda.
It is suspected that in the first months of this year, before illegally crossing the border into Greece, as he was a wanted person there, Alessio Xhelo was circulating in the city of Saranda, where he was sheltering.
It is not known how Xhelo ended up in Greece, as at least until last year he was under "house arrest" in Fier with 24-hour surveillance by the FNSH, under charges of "Trafficking in weapons and ammunition", "Removing a prisoner from his place of residence", "Kidnapping or holding a person hostage", and "Murder of State Police employees" which remained at an attempted stage.
Even on March 30, 2025, he was arrested after he had threatened, insulted, and insulted the police officer of the National Security Force, Fier Unit, who was on duty, supervising this citizen.
Xhelo was isolated in his apartment in Fier as he was a wanted person in Greece for the above charges.
He had escaped from Petro Ralli prison in Greece in June 2019 along with two other prisoners, managing to take a guard hostage.
He was in prison, sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of a Greek and involved in 8 shootouts with the police in Greece, as well as in the rape of the wife of a foreign diplomat during the robbery of their home and in the kidnapping of a young man who he released after taking a lot of money from his family.
After escaping, he arrived in Albania and in October 2019 was arrested in Vlora with an unlicensed pistol. The Greek justice system sent his file to Albania, and the court imposed a “house arrest” measure on him for the charges sought in Greece, specifically “Trafficking in weapons and ammunition”, “Removing a prisoner from his place of residence”, “Kidnapping or holding a person hostage”, and “Attempted murder of State Police officers”. He carried out this measure in his apartment in Fier under the supervision of the FNSH.
