Corruption at AMA, SPAK sends 7 people to court
Audiovisual Media Authority

SPAK has completed the investigation and sent for trial the criminal proceedings against 7 persons, accused of being involved in a corruption case with the Audiovisual Media Authority.

In the announcement given to the media, SPAK states that the investigations have shown that the owners of cable televisions in the City of Elbasan, exercised the activity of cable television broadcasting without prior authorization from the Audiovisual Media Authority, in violation of copyright. According to SPAK, this was due to bribes given to AMA officials, or intermediaries who promised to intervene to AMA officials.

SPAK has brought Izmir Hajdari, Suela Mustan, Andrea Nathanaili, Bledar Karaj, Artan Drazhi, Adem Boric and Shkëlqim Sula to trial, while it has terminated the investigation for Ervin Tahiri.

These persons were arrested in June 2019, during the operation "Force of Law" in Elbasan, while media sources suggest that the accused have influenced the obtaining of a cable television license in Elbasan which was owned by the Çapja tribe.
