After the announcement of the claim by SPAK in the case known as "Sterilization", the defense phase has begun at the GJKKO for the defendants who have benefited from a summary trial, especially former minister Ilir Beqaj.

During his speech before the trial panel, Saimir Kadiu , former economic director at the Ministry of Health, requested a declaration of innocence, stating that he had not been involved in any violation or abuse of office.

To illustrate his position in this process, the Judge brought an anecdote to the courtroom:

“I read an anecdote a few days ago. The forest caught fire and all the animals gathered to reflect on their sins. The lion said: ‘I have eaten many of you.’ The wolf and the fox did the same. When it was the donkey’s turn, he said: ‘I saw a meadow with green grass and I went and ate it.’ All the animals said: ‘This is the worst sin!’ And they condemned the donkey.”

Asked by the jury about the reason for this story, the judge made a joke that surprised the courtroom: "I ask that I not be the donkey."
