Life-sentenced prisoner Ardian Çapja did not attend his mother's funeral.

The General Directorate of Prisons did not grant permission to the convict, who is in a high-security institution.

Journalist Anila Hoxha reports for Top Channel that Çapja's family had submitted the documents confirming the funeral ceremony in the early hours of the morning, with the request that he be allowed to attend the funeral.

Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Prisons had requested the support of the State Police for the security of the convict, in addition to the special forces convoy that would be deployed to escort him.

Despite the request and the foreseen security measures, Çapja was not present at the funeral ceremony.
