Caught with smuggled cigarettes and drinks in Kakavija, 57-year-old from Elbasan

A 57-year-old man from Elbasan has been arrested in flagrante delicto at the Kakavija border crossing, after during a search of the vehicle he was traveling in, police found a significant amount of cigarettes, alcoholic beverages and other smuggled goods.

According to the police, the items were seized as material evidence, while citizen AP is facing charges of "Smuggling of excise goods" and "Smuggling of other goods."

"In implementation of the plan of measures to combat illegal trafficking, by the Structures of the Local Directorate for Border and Migration Gjirokastra, at the Kakavije Border Crossing Point, during the control carried out on a "Ford" brand vehicle, a considerable quantity of cigarette packs of various brands, alcoholic beverages, beer, as well as other smuggled goods were found and seized as material evidence. In connection with this incident, the arrest in flagrante delicto of citizen AP, born on 14.08.1969, resident of Bradashesh, Elbasan, was made for the criminal offense of "Smuggling of goods subject to excise duty" and "Smuggling of other goods", provided for by articles 172 and 174 of the Criminal Code", the Police statement states.
