148 kilograms of cocaine were seized in Livorno, Italy in recent weeks, hidden in a shipment of bananas destined for Switzerland.
The police, as Il Tirreno reports , arrested the Albanian drug couriers, two of them brothers, who had illegally entered the industrial port of the Tuscan city to 'collect' the narcotics hidden in a container arriving from the port of Guayaquil (Ecuador). .
Fiamme Gialle acted on the basis of alerts shared with the Customs Agency.
A scanner identified 139 blocks inside the container, then the financiers positioned themselves and waited for several hours to catch whoever came to collect the cocaine.
The couriers did not resist and were arrested, they would receive a reward of several thousand euros if the collection of the cargo was successful.
The court of Livorno confirmed the seizure and arrests. This is the largest seizure of cocaine in recent years at the seaport.
In the Peninsula, these large quantities of cocaine usually end up mainly on the Milan-Brescia road and in the capital Rome, a part goes to Tuscany.
