DP Chairman Sali Berisha visited Agron Gjekmarkaj in the hospital, after the latter lost consciousness during today's opposition protest.
"I told them I'm the deputy speaker of Parliament, I'm a university professor... They didn't even look me in the eye. They put pressure on my chest and I couldn't breathe," Gjekmarkaj himself says.
Sali Berisha condemned " with the greatest force the violence used by drug gangs in uniform ordered by Edi Rama against Gjekmarkaj, the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament and the Deputy Chairman of the DP, Gazment Bardhi. We take these acts personally. I invite the Democrats to throw eggs and tomatoes at these government criminals wherever they see them. This requires that as soon as you see their cars, you throw eggs and tomatoes. They must receive the response they deserve. Hitting a deputy is an order from Edi Rama ," said Berisha.
But Tirana Police reject Sali Berisha's accusations that Deputy Speaker of Parliament Agron Gjekmarkaj was hit by several officers during the protest.
"The State Police has denied as completely untrue the statement in the media by Mr. Sali Berisha, where he claimed that MP Agron Gjekmarkaj was hit by police officers. MP Gjekmarkaj was not hit by any police officer, but, from the initial data, it results that he did not feel well in terms of health and left the protest ," the police stressed in a reaction to the media.
