Former Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj appears in the GJKKO, citizens await him

Former Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj appeared this Friday at the Special Court for the court session regarding 'Sterilization'.

Ilir Beqaj is accompanied by a police officer because he is under house arrest.

As the former Minister of Health entered the premises of the Special Structure, protesters shouted "thief!"

Former Health Minister Ilir Beqaj is being tried on charges of theft by abuse of office and organized criminal group.

On the other hand, the other 8 defendants, including former deputy minister Klodian Rjepaj and the businessman who won the concession, Ilir Rrapaj, were convicted in a separate trial with a summary trial. The court dismissed the charges of being part of a structured criminal group against Rjepaj and Rrapaj.

Beqaj left the cell almost 25 months after his arrest on July 4, 2024.
