The Greek Foreign Ministry reacted immediately after the incident the day before where the MEP Fredi Beleri was attacked with yogurt and eggs by a protester.

The headquarters of Greek diplomacy strongly condemns this "attack" and requests the reaction of the Albanian authorities to maintain the safety of EU members, who must be treated with respect.

" We condemn the attacks on the Greek MEP Fredi Beleri during the visit of the delegation of the European Parliament to Tirana to monitor Albania's accession process.

The Albanian authorities must take the appropriate measures to guarantee the safety and freedom of MEPs to carry out their duties without obstacles.

MEPs represent the interests of EU citizens and should be treated with due respect ", the reaction reads.
