The meeting of the Mandates Council in the Albanian Parliament, where it will be decided whether or not to lift the immunity of MP Belinda Balluku, has been postponed, without setting a date for the next meeting.

During the meeting, the participating MPs agreed to receive, for review, the evidence that the Special Prosecution Office has made available to them on a USB.

The parties have agreed that the deputies will take the USB with them. Initially, the head of the Socialist Party parliamentary group, Taulant Balla, stated that the documentation should not be released from the meeting of the Mandates Council. Balla told the Democrats to see the evidence (USB) at the meeting and not to take it with them. But apparently the parties have reached an agreement to take the USB.

Sources indicate that prosecutors have clarified that the USB material can only be accessed by members of the Mandates Council, respecting legal procedures. The prosecution has agreed that Balluk's lawyer will also be familiar with the evidence.

The file that SPAK has prepared to support the request to lift the immunity of MP Belinda Balluku is reportedly 10,000 pages long. For this reason, her lawyer has requested 3 weeks to review it, but SPAK says 5 days is the maximum time.

The Socialist Party agrees with Balluk's lawyer, requesting that the meeting be postponed to January 19, a proposal that is opposed by the DP, which wants to hold the next meeting on Monday.

Democratic Party MP Gent Strazimiri is reported to have asked the prosecutor in the case, Prençi: "Considering that the defendant is not cooperating because she does not resign and even intimidates witnesses, whom the government publicly defends, do you personally have an urgency, a reasonable deadline within which the lawyer can familiarize himself with the evidence, and the investigation cannot be delayed?"

While Prençi responded: "I think the deadline will be 3-5 days." Another prosecutor, Dorina Bejko, was of the same opinion.

"When SPAK's justice was done, you wanted it while we were afraid... We still have our problems with SPAK today, which are public. You, through Edi Rama, continue to say whatever SPAK asks for, we will give it unconditionally... Don't force me to inform Edi Rama that you are violating his order by delaying SPAK, because you know what will happen to you...?"
