A couple of tourists from Switzerland have gone missing in the Shebenik National Park in Librazhd, a protected area that lies in the southeast of the country.
It is suspected that they strayed from the marked trail and lost their orientation during a nature walk.
According to preliminary information, one of the tourists suffered a leg injury and requested emergency assistance.
The Administration of Protected Areas in Elbasan has set up an emergency group, which in collaboration with the police forces of the Librazhd police station is conducting a search operation to find and rescue foreign tourists.
The operation is ongoing and the situation remains delicate, due to the mountainous terrain and weather that could worsen.
