A strong debate has started on social networks after the statements of Islamologist Ikballe Huduti, who claimed that she herself had found two other wives for her husband.
Although polygamy (marriage with more than one person) is punishable by law in Albania and Kosovo, Huduti claimed that she had a very good relationship with her husband, and that he deserved the other two wives.
That was enough for the network to start debating whether polygamy should be talked about today and how applied it is in the field.
The former mufti of Tirana, Ylli Gurra admits that there have been cases of multiple marriages in the mosque, in Euronews , Gurra said that the cases happen and are real, even though the law is violated.
" From a legal point of view, they are in violation of the law. It shouldn't happen the way it does. Absolutely. There have been several cases in the mosque. There are cases where there is also abandonment of this type, while he did not inform his ex-wife. Polygamy allowed according to the personal whims of individuals is extreme ," he said.
