A possible threat lies above the final of the Europa Conference League this Wednesday between the Dutch club Feyenoord and Rome in the Albanian capital.

Up to 100,000 fans are expected to travel to Albania for the inaugural final of the third level European tournament.

Feyenoord and Roma are well-known clubs with large fan bases and notoriously violent elements among their fans.

Hooligans from Feyenoord meanwhile are known for their violent cases and have been the protagonists in clashes with police in Rotterdam during the November riots against coronavirus restrictions.

Also, they have entered the field and there have been clashes inside stadiums in countries such as Switzerland, the Netherlands and Slovakia by these fans.

There is also a precedent with Feyenoord after the events in Rome in 2015, when Feyenoord fans clashed with Italian police and damaged a historic fountain.

Rome's strong ultras number about 200, and Feyenoord hooligans have apparently turned a blind eye to them.

The Rome Ultras warned their teammates to come to Tirana by placing a note before the team's last Serie A home game against Venice.

"We have a meeting with History and we must be respectful. "The trip to Tirana must be treated fairly inside and outside the stadium," it said.
