Erjona Mato, who was crossing the highway when she was hit by a vehicle, turns out to have been living on the streets of Vlora for several years, as she was homeless.

She lived in abandoned buildings and in recent years had stayed in the garden near the Palace of Culture in Vlora.

Even though he had requested assistance from local institutions, no measures were taken to help him. 

Meanwhile, local media reports that Erjona, several years ago, had asked journalists for help in finding her daughter, who had been taken away from her by institutions due to her inability to care for her.
