Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, Blendi Gonxhja, in a press conference on the 2026 vision and the new ecosystem of cooperation between tourism, culture and sports, said that the main focus is to go beyond the budget ceilings. For this, other financial sources will need to be found.
"Our primary struggle is to look beyond the budget ceilings because Albania will have to invent funds, maximize value. Multiplying support for institutions, maintenance, investment in infrastructure, historical objects, itineraries, museums, have already come to life," Gonxha said.
The minister said there is a 6.6% increase in tourism after 2025 closed with 12.2 million visitors. Management and growth of services are essential, he said.
"We have started work on the digitalization of the service. We are working to increase the public beach area, for the good management of the stations and this year we have brought the innovation of self-management in addition to that by private entities that they have in those areas and maps that the municipality establishes. Reduction of beach bars, reduction of environmental and acoustic pollution and increase of the sports and games corner. We have started work on more information on short-term rental and in coordination with the bodies, to increase certification, control by eliminating evasion. Internationalization of the offer and potential of Albania, we must increase our presence in national markets through participation in international fairs. Increase of the quality of the tourist service through the development of human capacities. Continuous training, certifications, adaptation of curricula. Year-round tourism through event tourism so that the structures have capacities not only in beds, but to cope with activities. Event tourism, mountain, ecological, gastronomic and cultural, is important.", the minister said.
The minister said that there will be reorganization at the institutional level, while investments in cultural infrastructure are expected. “This year we are getting ready to open new attractions in art and culture,” he said, but of course the focus on the existing ones remains. “We want to increase the number of different collections of everything,” the minister said.
Copyright will receive special attention, Gonxha said, because it aims to strengthen it. There will be interventions in the sponsorship law, support is foreseen for youth organizations, and funds for sports are 32% more than in 2025.
