Poor performance and the way controls were exercised over citizens seem to have been the reasons that led to the dismissal of the Deputy Mayor of Tirana, Blendi Sulaj.

Sulaj was dismissed today by Mayor Erion Veliaj, as part of a wave of changes and dismissals that has begun three days ago in the Municipality of Tirana.

According to sources, Sulaj allegedly became a concern for citizens due to the dispatch of inspectors to the field, with a focus on imposing fines and administrative measures.

On the other hand, this approach to controls has not been accompanied by the same efficiency in detecting and stopping unauthorized construction.

While citizens and businesses faced inspections and fines, other unauthorized construction continued in the capital, creating a problematic situation in the management and control of Tirana's territory.

Thus, Sulaj's performance in one of the most important areas of the Municipality, territorial control, has been assessed as weak and far from expectations.
