The 37-year-old pregnant woman who lost her life, Marjana Karolina Bunaj

Marjana Karolina Bunaj , the 37-year-old pregnant woman who lost her life while being transported from the Pogradec hospital to Tirana, was expecting her first child.

The woman from Mirdita, married in Pogradec, was in her 7th month of pregnancy.

Her husband had left for the US a few days earlier, where he and his family live, while the 37-year-old was waiting to join them there.

It would be her first time in the US. At midnight on Sunday, the 37-year-old had stomach pains.

She called her sister who lived next door, who immediately went and drove her to the hospital.

There, doctors suspected hemorrhage and, after placing her on the upper floor of the maternity ward, determined that she needed to be sent to Tirana.

A helicopter was also discussed, but since it was dark, it could not be realized.

According to initial information, the 37-year-old woman was presented with low vital parameters, in an untransportable condition, and subsequently underwent resuscitation.

At 04:30 they sent her by ambulance to Tirana. At the entrance to Elbasan she stopped responding and the nurse knocked on the driver's window, telling her, " Take her to the Elbasan hospital because we've lost her ."

The 37-year-old's sister was also present in the ambulance and says that the 37-year-old arrived dead at the hospital.

They then sent him for an autopsy to the Tirana morgue, while the deceased's sister went to Police Station No. 4 to file a report.
